The Top 5 Things You Must Do in California
Coming from a Californian below are some of the places that you must visit if you’re stopping by. A few days ago, we discussed the top five must-try restaurants in California. Now what will you fill your day with? With one of a kind sunny weather, even during the wintertime, you are sure to enjoy every second of your day.
The Grove is a gorgeous iconic outdoor mall with trendy retailers, a theatre, dining options, and a fountain that has a water show each hour. The perfect location for families and children, with a grassy seating section and jazz music playing throughout the whole mall. You must visit the Trolly as well, not only for kids but for people of all ages. The Trolley takes you on a tour throughout the entire Grove providing commentary and historical facts. Not only is it breathtaking, but visitors can see views that you wouldn’t see at ground level. The atmosphere is like no other, especially at nighttime. With glistening and twinkling lights, the Grove is another environment that is worth seeing.
Rodeo Drive is a two-mile radius street in Beverly Hills filled with high end retailers, cafes, and restaurants. Do not feel pressured to shop at these stores, the storefronts on Rodeo Drive are the most expensive stores. Even if you will not purchase anything, it is worth it to stroll throughout the day or even at night. During the day, you can pick up a coffee, window shop, sit and chill by one of the hotels on Rodeo Drive and bask in the weather. The array of palm trees, luxury shops, and hustle bustle of people is the epitome of Beverly Hills. Take a few pictures of the aesthetic backdrops, fill up your camera roll, and be sure to come again at nighttime. Why? Even if the stores are closed at night, it’s a wonderful location for date night or just a relaxing stroll. If you are in California, this is not one of the places you should pass on visiting.
Runyon Canyon Hike is a great location for scenic views while getting in a little bit of a workout. It is child and pet friendly, although some would rather not bring their children- it is up to personal preference. On the top of the hike, is the famous fence where couples, friends, or family will attach a lock to the fence to symbolize love. It is the perfect location for pictures, take a view at the fence, and continue the hike. Make sure to bring lots of water and enjoy the weather. If you do not enjoy hiking, this hike is mediocre and can be finished in less than an hour. I would highly suggest doing this hike for the views, it is absolutely worthwhile.
Griffith Observatory is a glorious view to visit during sunset. You can look through telescopes, visit exhibits, and watch live shows. This location is well known as a photoshoot spot providing a breathtaking view of Los Angeles and the Hollywood sign. Don’t be worried if you cannot stop by during the day, Griffith Observatory is spectacular at nighttime too. Visitors can stargaze better during the night. Bring a blanket, pack some food, and be prepared to have a feast for your eyes and stomachs. Although this location can be child friendly, it may be boring for some kids, so be sure to keep that in mind.
The Getty Villa/Museum is the perfect spot to visit if you’re looking for something more relaxing. Located in the heart of Malibu, the Getty Villa is an educational center and art museum that works for the whole family. Each location and corner are picturesque, with spectacular and impressive views. Parking is the only expense of this trip; you can pack your own food and snacks and have a fun picnic. The Getty tram takes you from the bottom of the Villa all the way to the top. It’s worth it to visit the Getty Villa for the tram that overlooks one of the most popular freeways in Los Angeles. Offering an awe-inspiring and unique view, no matter what time of the day.
