Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet
Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet arrived in the UK in 1991. Having previously served as assistant principle of Oholei Torah Boys School in New York, he assumed the position as Minister of the Richmond Synagogue in Southwest London for two years, while also teaching Advanced Jewish Studies at the Jews Free School. In 1993, at the age of 28, he was offered the position as Rabbi of the Mill Hill Synagogue. His vibrancy and dynamism has resulted in a continuous growth of membership, now in excess of 1800 members.
He has a Masters Degree in Jewish Studies from University College London. He authors numerous articles for newspapers, magazines and journals, and lectures. He served as Diary Rabbi to the Guardian Newspaper and also writes for the Jewish Chronicle as well as a very popular weekly column in the Jewish News. He has featured in The London Times as well as Time Magazine International. Rabbi Schochet can often be seen on television including BBC as a regular panelist for The Big Questions as well as CNN.
In 2018 Rabbi Schochet served on the Chief Rabbi’s Cabinet with the portfolio of “family” and as chairman of the Rabbinical Council in the UK. He is currently the longest serving Rabbi in the United Synagogue. He was named by the Jewish Telegraph as one of the ten most influential Rabbis in the United Kingdom. The Jewish Chronicle recently described him as “one of the most outspoken Rabbis in the world”.
He is married with five children and grandchildren.

Travel from Santa Margherita to La Spezia by coach where we will board a ferry boat to wander through the little colourful villages seeing the main sights.

This is a panoramic route over the Gulf of Tigullio that crosses the Mediterranean countryside.
From the hotel we will reach Nozarego and from here, following the red cross marker, up to a panoramic stretch on the Cervara Abbey. Among woods of holm-oaks and Aleppo pines, we will reach the small chapel of the Gave, dating back to the 17th century. The small path, now cobbled, develops among terraces cultivated with olive trees and vines. Here, next to Mulino del Gassetta for lunch time, there is a picnic area. After lunch we will leave the mixed wood to go back to the cultivated area of the Promontory and, after passing San Sebastiano, we will end the itinerary in the village of Portofino. From here we will return by ferry boat to Santa Margherita.

Meet your guide at the hotel and with an easy walk reach the ferry-boat pier in Santa Margherita; after 45 minutes of a scenic cruise, we will be at the secret bay of San Fruttuoso, a unique place, looking out on a splendid bay with a small equipped pebble beach; after a short walk, we will pick the ferry boat and rounding the huge rocky spur known as Punta Chiappa, you’ll reach Camogli. This small fishing village is famed for its pastel-coloured houses, some of which are adorned with seashells. Stroll through the small historical centre and enjoy some free time to soak up the atmosphere. In the afternoon we will take the ferry boat to Portofino where your guide will show you the small Piazzetta and narrow streets hosting some of Italy’s most exclusive boutiques. We arrived yesterday, late in the afternoon back at home to a house still looking much like it is Pesach. The Stadler family left Sunday morning and then we ran around to pack up to leave Sunday afternoon. We arrived in Milan airport early Monday morning. When We made our way to Santa Margherita and the wonderful imperiale palace hotel. Upon arrival last week, Monday, we were greeted by a very friendly desk staff, and by Francesca who was sitting in the lobby. We made it up to our room and unpacked somewhat, and we were able to make it to lunch and upon doing so we met Ruth who was absolutely the “hostess with the mostest”! Francesca was soooo helpful and friendly ( please forward this to her as well )! Then we met Ruth’s father and met her mother, and so many nice people. We met the staff and the waiters and everybody and everything couldn’t be nicer. The food couldn’t be better. The place couldn’t be more beautiful. We enjoyed the touring on Tuesday. We enjoyed the Davening. We enjoyed the speeches. We enjoyed the location. We were treated with five star treatment, there were just so many little episodes and incidents that just made this experience spectacular and memorable and totally and completely worth the trip. The location and scenery was incredible. Thank you so much for allowing us to take this wonderful trip, and anybody who asks us or who will ask us-we will definitely sing your praises.

I wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had for Pesach at the Imperiale Palace. Simonè, our waiter, was excellent. The food was delicious. The davening was great. And the tour company, Gabriele and Francesca, were above and beyond, the best and nicest we’ve met. Everything was spectacular. See you next year.

Ruth, thank you so much for your great hospitality. The hotel staff were so attentive, especially in the dining room. We enjoyed all the salads and cut fruit and vegetables.; shmura matza and wine as much as we wanted. The location was outstanding. Our grandchildren, aged 5 and 7 had the best time in the children’s program. Thank you!

in 2019 we spent Passover with Leisure Tours and the Minkowitz family, the hosts. Last year this was at the Hotel Palazzo Naiadi in Rome. We had a wonderful time. We traveled with 2 other couples. First of all, i can not speak well enough about the care, kindness, warmth and hospitality that the Minkowitz family showed to all of us. Ruth Minkowitz was great host and made sure that everyone’s had a great time and moved things ahead smoothly. The accommodations were regale, terrific and spotless rooms and amenities (i realize the will b exchanging hotels in Rom et his year – but i can only imagine that it will be a similar top spot and location.) Rabbi Lau was scholar in residence last year, and there Gaian – former Chief Rabbi of Israel – wonderful speaker and storyteller. Davening was very nice.. The food was exceptional. I am basically a pescatarian and they provided me with wonderful choices. There were excellent salads and side dishes at all times. Also lovely white fish dishes. The rest of my group enjoyed all the meats, cheeses etc. Wine selection was great, including lovely kosher grappa. From Italy. (Poli brand.) . In addition a, Rome is a great location, and there is so much to do their. It’s a great time of year. To sum it up, we had a memorable Peshawar, and recommend this unconditionally.
