Is it Worth it to go on a Passover Program?
Valid question. Hopefully I’ll be able to answer it for you in this blog.
There are two main factors to consider- the travel and the Jewish aspect of a Passover program.
Travel wise, how often is it that half or even a full hotel is booked exclusively for Jews with kosher food? Let’s say you wanted to travel to the Bahamas with a couple of friends. You would have to figure out flights, stay, transportation, and food. On a Passover program, more than half of those factors are taken care of. You have a place to stay for the whole duration of Passover. Not just any place, but a beautiful hotel with amazing amenities with other Jews staying in the hotel as well. Food is taken care of as well, so you don’t have to bring cans of room temperature tuna and jars of peanut butter with you. It’s not just any food too, it is food prepared by amazing and talented chefs and caterers. Passover programs are perfect for those who enjoy traveling and have been wanting to travel specific places without the stress of planning. Additionally, planning for Shabbat is not an issue either. There is no fear of not finding enough people for a minyan or who will open your hotel room door on Friday night, everything is taken care of.
As for the Jewish factor, it is a once in a lifetime experience to celebrate Passover in a different country or even continent with different Jews from all around the world. Being away for Passover is different than being at home. Besides all the cooking, cleaning, and hosting that comes along with it- celebrating Passover in a new space can be refreshing. Families can bond together without the stress of washing dishes and cleaning up. Distant relatives can spend time together all in one place for Passover instead of being scattered across the globe. As well as the networking opportunities and the number of Jewish Geography games that will be played. The unity and pride that comes with sitting in a room of Jews all observing a Jewish holiday is truly inspiring. It is not something to miss out on.
So, if you’re thinking if it’s worth it after reading this blog, read it again and book that Passover program- you won’t regret it.
Funny, title asks “Is it worth”, yet no mention of the issue of cost which you would expect considering the question used the word “worth”.
