How Passover can Improve Your Marriage
Happy wife, happy life. You’ve heard of this before. Even for those who are not married yet, any bridal party or occasion that celebrates a bride or groom has a mention of this. Every Rabbi that speaks at a Jewish Chuppah says the same thing. If you want your life to be enjoyable, make sure your wife is happy first. If your wife isn’t happy, you won’t be either, or neither will the kids.
How do you make your wife happy? You’re probably thinking of diamonds, food, a spa day, childcare for the kids, a maid, date night, luxurious vacations, and so on. Alas, most married Jewish women would love to not make Passover at home. You know how stressful it is for your wife and Jewish women out there to prepare, cook, clean, and host for Passover. The mental load and nervousness that comes with this holiday is exhausting and emotionally draining. So, this year, why don’t you make it better for your wife and for your marriage. To fix your shalom Bayit, peace of the home, buy it, buy the Passover vacation, and feel the peace that will come with it.
Doing so will allow your wife to be more present on the holiday, as a spouse and as a mother. She doesn’t have to set up the table constantly and can instead be with the children. She won’t have to cook dinner on Chol Hamoed night and can instead hang out with her spouse. Women around the world feel as though they cannot truly and wholeheartedly enjoy Passover. If you don’t believe us, ask your wife or any woman right now. They’re locked to the stove cooking for their family and cleaning the house a full month before. Leaving your wife feeling resentful and annoyed when Seder night approaches. Not to mention that they’re cooking for family, guests, and any older children who visit with their spouses and children. When older children visit, your wife may feel the pressure of doing all the household work while finding the balance to play with the grandkids. As well as setting up all the guestrooms beforehand and making extra food for the whole holiday. Jewish mothers are basically running their own Passover program each year, it’s immensely tiring. When you decide to go on a Passover program or book a rental, your wife feels as if she can finally enjoy the holiday and savor each moment. Your relationship together can grow because you are both in the moment, without any interruptions. Your wife doesn’t have to get up to clear the table, your husband doesn’t have to watch over the children in shul and can pray with complete focus, everything is taken care of. The kids are being watched, the food is being cooked, the dishes are being washed, your hotel room is being cleaned- you can finally breathe.
Now for all those single people wondering how a Passover program is going to fix their marriage, it can in other ways. Maybe not your marriage, but you are going on an eight-day vacation with amazing networking opportunities. The people you will meet and connect with is incomparable with the people you’ll meet during the year. How often are you with 300+ people for eight days. Never. Who knows, you might even find your other half on a program! Some programs have a matchmaker on board for this exact reason. You can also go on a program alone or with a friend, it does not need to be with your family. This can help you have some downtime and be with yourself, everyone needs that occasionally.
