A Realistic Passover Dream
It’s finally Friday afternoon. You cooked and cleaned for Shabbos, showered the kids, dressed them in their Shabbos outfits, and are finally focusing on getting yourself ready. You throw on some makeup and a nice Shabbos outfit and go outside in your living room to light the Shabbos candles. Your husband heads off to shul, the younger kids are playing with puzzles, and the older kids are helping to set up the Shabbos table. You see that everything is calm, so you decide to lay down just for a bit to regain some energy before your husband comes back from shul. You lay down on the comfy cold couch with a fluffy pillow. Suddenly, you are transported into a heaven-like world.
You’re in a luxurious hotel suite on a king size bed with plush pillows and the most comfortable feather down comforter. You open your eyes and slowly get off the bed, walk up to the glass window, pulling the cotton curtains aside. There you see the sparkly and gorgeous beach right in front of you. You hear the calming sound of waves crashing back and forth. Your kids slowly and quietly come through the door in their matching Yom Tov outfits and the most adorable smiles on their faces. Your children grab your hand and slowly drag you downstairs to the hotel dining room where the tables are adorned with lush and delicate floral arrangements, stunning tables, and hundreds of Jews. You realize that your friend from your community is there, your cousins from Cedarhurst that you haven’t seen for a while, and your 10th grade Chumash teacher waving to you from a distance. As you sit down on a cozy chair next to your grinning family, waiters slowly parade through the door and offer you a choice of warm and deliciously smelling meals. You immediately dive in, not realizing how hungry you were. As you are enjoying your meal with your family, the dining hall fills with words of Torah and harmonious songs. After you finish your meal, you begin to start cleaning the table on autopilot. Then you realize you aren’t hosting this Passover; you are finally a guest. You don’t need to bring the plates to the kitchen, clean the dishes, store everything back in the fridge, and set up the table for the next day. You finally have the luxury of being served. After the meal, you, and your family head upstairs to relax and have the best sleep of your life, awaiting the next day. The next morning, you head downstairs to go daven with the hotel minyan. You don’t need to watch your kids this time and constantly be distracted during your prayer. There are childcare and babysitting services available to watch your children of all ages. After the meal and the first half of chag is over, Chol HaMoed is pure bliss, there is delicious food, amazing weather, entertaining activities, and a wonderful crowd. At night, there are magic shows for child, a DJ disco party for adults, BBQ party, and a paint and sip night. You’re able to enjoy yourself doing something you enjoy, your husband can enjoy himself, and your kids can too. Everyone is having fun, everyone is enjoying themselves, no one is complaining. Finally.
You, your husband, and your kids are so happy that you finally went on a Passover program. You start recommending programs to your friends and family.
