An Absolute Joy
5.0

We had the pleasure of enjoying our 2024 Passover at the Midwest Pesach Program with our extended family.  In short, this is the best "bang for your buck" experience we have yet had from a Pesach program. The accommodations were large, comfortable, and clean.  The hotel is spacious with numerous rooms, nooks, and crannies, that allow engagement in individual or group activities.  It is not the newest in accommodations, but the large space and hotel staff responsiveness certainly make up for not having the most up-to-date bells and whistles.  The area seems to be very affluent, and there were no concerns over safety in the environment.  There are many big-box shopping stores and pharmacies in the immediate area that make picking up those "forgotten at home" items an easy task.  It is a quiet suburban area with little outside ambient noise.   The food was plentiful and tasty, with approximately five daily meals.  And sometimes more.  The tea room was always stocked with an assortment of snacks, healthy and junk, with catering available at almost anytime to provide a wanted item from the kitchen.  We experienced an excellent service team that was flexible and made our sedars and meals an enjoyable experience.  The assortment of wines was more than sufficient, and there was a very well stocked bar during all yom tov kiddush. While the program is open about its no frills line-up of programming, it sells itself short.  The speakers were all enjoyable and personable, and the music was varied and lively.  We certainly enjoyed the performance and friendship of the great David Ross of Shir Soul Music.  There was also a variety of kids shows and performances to keep the little ones engaged. The guests were a diverse and entertaining mix of individuals - Orthodox Jews of every denomination, from modern to chasidic, from ashkenaz to sefard, from east coast to west.  Even an impeccably dressed bald-headed fellow that wore bright outfits of all colors and kept the guests entertained and guessing at all meals. The crowd was very friendly and people generally got along well with each other.  We were fortunate to make new friends, and rediscover old.   Last, but certainly not least, were our great hosts - AJ "Yoely" Kushner (and his family) and Mindy.  They were easy to work with, spirited, friendly, accommodating, and very accessible.  We highly recommend this program for anyone looking for a relaxing and laid-back Pesach.
